Recently, I’ve been following some disturbing news from Florida. Authorities in central Florida issued an arrest warrant Sunday for 39-year-old Alber Shell Jr., who is accused of a fatal crime. At a local shopping mall, a man was killed, and a woman injured in what appeared to be a targeted shooting.
In another shocking case, an 18-year-old was charged with the murder of two teenagers. Jamarcus Simpson, who was 17 at the time of the shootings on Christmas Day 2022, was charged Friday with two counts of first-degree premeditated murder in the deaths of Jeremiah Brown, 14, and Travon Anthony Jr., 16. He was charged after being arrested in St. Johns County on an unrelated charge the same day and is expected to be extradited to Brevard County soon.
There was also a bizarre incident involving a child who started a fire, supposedly to fend off demons, resulting in tragic consequences.
Additionally, two men from Florida were arrested on gun and drug charges by the Governor’s Task Force. Delaware State Police arrested David Cardarelli, 45, and Michael Cona, 44, for weapon and drug charges following a traffic stop in Newark on Friday morning.
Lastly, a Florida woman got into trouble for selling a fake diamond ring for $5,000. These events have painted a concerning picture of crime in the state.
Kelly O’Loughlin, 45, was charged with fraud, uttering a forged instrument, and grand theft, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. On Dec. 13, 2023, O’Loughlin pawned a fake diamond ring with forged certification papers at Cash Flow Jewelry in Marathon. She also provided a fake phone number and address.
